Ah, OK, you're about 4 years ahead of me at Woodcote. My sister (Wendy Crosby) would have been there then. Stan Payling was the maths teacher, Mr Biggs was PE master. I too got dumped in the D stream in first year (Mrs Turner) but later made it to the B stream for CSE exams. Who knew I'd qualify as a Dr later? Love NZ - and Christchurch is (or was!) a slice of old England. Holidayed there many times. I married an Aussie girl, and although we moved back to Blighty for a few years, she missed the sunshine. Re: Coulsdon, the by-pass has changed the whole vibe there now, and it's almost a backwater of estate agents and food outlets. You mentioned Sparks the radio & TV shop. My first tranny radio came from there, and later one of the shop girls used to sneak us records for our pirate radio station. All good memories. Cheers.Phil Crosbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09126872729474280094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1968719854667903732.post-35064364557022453682023-05-26T21:58:14.614+12:002023-05-26T21:58:14.614+12:00Thank you John. I don't recall a teacher called Payling, but there's so much that I don't recall anymore, so that doesn't mean much. I'm living in New Zealand now, just outside Christchurch; so, like you, I made the journey south (married a Kiwi lass). BTW, posts don't appear automatically on the blog as I moderate everything (too much spam). Anyway, thanks for commenting. You don't give dates of your time growing up in Cousldon, but looks pretty similar to mine. I actually lived at The Mount (Clockhouse) estate, but frequented Coulsdon all the time - my Dad was the Pharmacist in Boots all through 60's/70's. I too had a Saturday job - at the Woollies that you mentioned on the main intersection. The manager parked his (flash) car at the Red Lion -convenient as he was inside most of the time! I attended Smitham Primary, and later had a girlfriend halfway up Malcolm Road. Funny you should mention Surrey Sidecars, as this was where my dad bought a sidecar for his Norton 500, and used it to take the four of us on outings to places like Earlswood Lakes. We came to grief in a crash on Smitham Bottom Lane when I was about 5 and he never drove again. You are spot on with your description about Woodcote Sec Mod school and the strange collection of teachers. My friend Adrian and I produced an illicit school magazine called the Stamping Stan Times, after Mr Payling. I live in Australia now, but until my parents died a few years ago, I returned fairly regularly. I still enjoy the countryside walks around Coulsdon, but stay with Adrian who now lives in nearby Woldingham. They were difficult to spot and, when the magnification was reduced to 100%, almost imperceptible (even knowing their existence). The results would be acceptable in all but the most demanding of situations.

The 1/6 > 600% image was noticeably softer, even at 100%. and there were the odd pieces of small image detail missing when compared with the original. Nevertheless, these differences were only detectable by comparison with the original and on its own, the 600% image would stand up well on social media and in large print applications.

I find these results quite remarkable and far superior to any other image resizing program I have used. By the way, AI Gigapexel is *SLOW* - a 16MP image took 7 minutes to up-size by 200%, so don't bank on applying this to large batches of images unless you have a *very* fast machine (mine has an i7 processor, 2GB graphics card and 16GB of memory).David Fordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10390387594430697048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1968719854667903732.post-88745179197767636782018-09-04T14:48:36.561+12:002018-09-04T14:48:36.561+12:00Thank you David for sharing your experience. As a Gemini owner and 3 times pebble watch owner (3 different models) that all died or on their death bed, I've been looking for a replacement that would not break the bank.. And the more I read about the Amazefit Bip, the more I like it.. Of course the watches based on Wear OS 2.0 are all amazingly colorful and offer endless options, but in the end, what's important to me is battery life!
